Would you take a test to proactively find out your risk of a disease? This is the question News Corp worked with us to explore in a new piece of research.
The types of tests they were interested in? Polygenic risk scores (PRS).
PRS analyses the estimated effect of many genetic variants on an individual's risk for a specific disease or trait.
Most Australians have never heard of PRS — but once they do, many want one.
Just over one in ten (11%) of Australians knew what these genetic tests were, when asked by Lonergan Research on behalf of News Corp. But, once they’d learned what they were, nearly three-quarters said they would consider getting a test to assess their own health risks.
